Thanks to Samsung, I arrived at the wrong hour to have my second class in Legal Theory (one hour earlier), however I was lucky that a CBL International staff member appeared and helped me.
The professor started the class with an interesting debate about the Legal Reality of law and the Social Reality of Law, which for me was quite interesting since I come from a legal academic background. I had never thought about law in every single aspect of my life, but the professor’s perspective made me look at a different angle, unknown for me at that moment.
By the end of the class, my classmates and I had the idea to go for English tea, which at the end was transformed into a Cappuccino or a regular coffee (well, we are in the land of Harry Potter, so magic happens!).
After finishing our coffee (with a tea spirit), we all went to the Mini Cooper plant, which historically speaking, was a rover plant, until BMW bought the company, and then for certain reasons was liquidated (no one actually talks about that).
Oxford Mini Cooper plant is the main factory of Mini Cooper, and all cars that we see on the streets are from that factory! Amazing! Now I see Oxford as not only Oxford University plus Harry Potter but also as the land of Mini Cooper.
Our tour guide was amazing, he had being working for Mini for 52 years, and so he knew every single detail about the production of the Minis. It was also interesting to see how a car company works, and how they produce these cars. Each minute one car is in the finish line ready to be shipped, and delivered to its customer.
Oh and an interesting fact: if you end up working for Mini Cooper in Oxford, you have a medical centre right in the middle of the plant! And also a cooperate discount to get your own Mini or a BMW car.
Tonight we will have PPE talk, on the topic of Freedom of Speech, I’m looking forward to this discussion and to learn more about the topic from several perspectives.
