Today began with another interesting class on European Business Law. After class, we went into town for some high tea at The Grand Café. It was an absolutely delectable spread, covering gourmet sandwiches, scones, little pastries and jams. We decided we couldn’t leave the UK without having high tea!

Since we were already in the city centre, we jumped at the opportunity to visit some of the other colleges around the city. I heard that Magdalen has a deer park, which was too cool to pass up, so we ventured there. I was amazed at the size of the colleges, they have their own post boxes, public telephones, gardens, parks and meadows spanning kilometres, chapels and cathedrals – you name it! There is even a copy of the Last Supper hanging in the chapel at Magdalen College! We did a scenic walk through the gardens and it really felt like we were in a fairytale – picturesque bridges with rivers peacefully flowing below, benches carved out of tree trunks overlooking the meadows. I kept having to pinch myself to make sure it was real!

On our way back to Somerville, we visited the Ashmolean museum, which was much larger than I expected! It covers historic eras and relics from every corner of the world and I could have spent the whole day there. By the time we reached the top floor, the terrace and rooftop bar was shut. So we’ll have to check that out next time.

Tonight, there’s a talk organised by an Oxford student on International Criminal Law! But before that, we’re heading to a pub to get the classic English meal experience.
