In Oxford, no day seems to be dull as each one is filled with a series of activities and things to do, apart from studying for our courses, of course.

Today we started with another 9 am lecture but this was the first class for the subject of Intellectual Property Rights. Without a doubt, this class was extremely informative and allowed me to gain an in depth appreciation for the various types of IP rights there are. The lecturer broke down such complex concepts in the most interesting way that made retaining the information easy.

Later in the day, I had some spare time and so I decided to visit the Blackfriars Church and the Ashmolean Museum. Visiting the oldest museum in England felt like such a privilege because the place was an absolute safe haven for artifacts dating back to as early as the 600 AD. The breath-taking museum was a three floor building that had a wide collection that ranged from the Eastern and Western parts of the world and their respective history.

After that, I chose to join the evening lecture on Oriel College’s Senior Library collection held at the Champneys Room at Oriel College. The evening started with a small presentation by the lovely librarian on the history of the college and the slow growth and creation of the library at Oriel. We then proceeded to the actual library and were allowed to see some extremely old books that were in amazing condition considering their true age. What was even more surprising was that some of the colours used in the books for the illustration were so brilliant and pristine, it seemed as though the book had never aged.

Just getting a whiff of the old books made me feel so in touch with the past and the wealth of knowledge available here. The feeling of being in these old libraries is so inexplicable but I know for sure that it would definitely bring out the bookworm in anybody!
