Waking up after my first night at Anne’s college was easy as I was really excited to get started and meet all the others delegates. The breakfast they serve in St Anne’s college dining hall is more than I expected. There is definitely a lot of choices and one can try the English traditional breakfast or also a more classic one as cereals, coffee and juice.

There are also, croissants and pastry, fresh fruits and tasty fresh yogourts. The weather was fortunetly sunny that day, so it was very pleasant to eat in a bright place. All conditions were met for the day to start on the right foot.

My first class started at 9 am in a comfortable and modern seminar room at St Anne’s college. It seemed like all the delegates were sitting well and ready to start. As I am a Law student in France, I choose the Business and Legal communication course taught by Alix De Zitter for the first week. The professor told us more about resumes, covering letter and professional interview. It is a very interesting and useful subject for the class members as the majority of us are lawyers or law students.

In a general way, I think that it was a good introduction to professional communication. The only point I would raise is that it would have been interesting for us to actually communicate with each other and maybe try some role plays in order  to put ourselves in a position of authentic professionals. But this is understandable as we were too many students attending this course.

After lunch, I almost missed the Welcome and Orientation event at the Oriel College dining hall by loosing myself in the cobbled streets of Oxford. Fortunalty, I managed to find the CBL International crew and Libby, the Programme Director who welcomed us, answered to all of our questions and gave us a nice speech. We then went for a quick tour of the center of Oxford in order to become more familiar with the location.

Welcome reception at Oriel College

In the evening, Oriel College also hosted the Welcome Reception of the second session of CBL International programme in Oxford. It was the perfect occasion for everyone to get to know the other delegates. Most of us finished the evening in a rooftop bar on High Street, allowing us to admire the beautiful sunset for the end of our second day.
